The First Piano Competition

This past Friday, Madison participated in her first piano competition. We didn't know quite what to expect, but Eleanor, her piano teacher told her what to do. We arrived and signed in and then waited for her turn. When we walked in, we were amazed to see six judges. It was tremendous pressure. It was hard for Tyler and me to breathe. But she did so well; I was absolutely amazed. She played two songs from memorization. We then waited for her score.....and she received an Excellent. I can see how it is good for young children to learn to perform under pressure. After years of competition, she will have no problem playing for any kind of audience.

We bought her dress at Bridal Affair because I wanted her to feel important and beautiful. Adele, the owner was so wonderful to help us. We couldn't find anything very modest. This dress just had a spaghetti strap, but it did come with a scarf. Adele took that scarf and made a cap sleeve out of it right then and there. It took her probably 30 minutes. I am not used to customer service like that and I have to say....It was wonderful. So if you need a fancy dress, I recommend Bridal Affairs.

Daylight Savings

We are SLOWLY adjusting to the time change this week. My kids, of course, didn't want to fall asleep very well on Sunday because they weren't used to falling asleep so early. So the boys kept playing around and I had to finally yell at them to settle down and go to sleep because they were going to be waking up for school earlier than usual.

So the next morning, I wake them up and it's still very dark. And oh how the kids struggled getting up...and so I was all "I told you so!'

So Monday night comes and do you know what Spencer says to me? "Mom, don't wake me up when it is still black, I only want to wake up when it's blueish."

He cracks me up.
