It's Great to be Eight

Madison has been anticipating this birthday so much. Monday the 26th wast her special day. It was her day to be the VIP at school, so we brought in goody bags and cute photos of her to show off to her classmates. Then that night, we had fun picking out a new bike for her together at Wal-Mart. Later, we had pizza with her Coon cousins and then her dad surprised her with a pink pellet gun. She was delighted!

Today was her friend birthday party. We had a medieval theme, where we stormed a castle, crossed a mote and jousted some birthday balloons. We ended the party by slaying the dragon cake. I think the kids certainly enjoyed themselves.

Tomorrow is her baptism. My mother made her a beautiful white dress for her to wear after her baptism. She worked so hard on it and spent way too many hours on it, but I know Madison and will cherish it for the rest of her life.

It has been a grand week, one I hope she never forgets. It's great to be eight!

We had a Blast!

It's so sad when something so anticipated comes to an end. We had a great time in southern California. It is such a beautiful state. I loved seeing the color green again...I had missed it so. I certainly had to chuckle though when we drove home through Strawberry and saw nothing but white. There is a good reason the real estate in California is so high.

I don't know where to begin or end. The trip was perfect. I was so afraid of some catastrophe happening...but everything went off without a hitch. The driving was fine, the hotels were wonderful and the memories we made were priceless. I don't regret a penny we spent. I just can't wait to do it again. I have more of our photos on facebook if you want to check them out. Just click on my photo albums.

Easter

We had two picnics this year. On Friday we went to Naples Park with the Brinkerhoffs and Saturday we went with the Coons out in the hills. The weather didn't cooperate too well, it was either really cold or super windy. But we had a good time finding Easter eggs and playing in the sand. The kids got Disney trading pins in their Easter baskets. They'll have lots of fun trading them in Disneyland next week.
