An Anniversary

Tyler and I celebrated another anniversary. This year we spent one night at Glenwood Springs and another night in Grand Junction. This photo is of the hot springs in Glenwood. Totally relaxing and romantic. I loved every minute of it.

I of course had to bring some homework with me, which Tyler was disgusted at, but what was I to do during the MIDDLE of the semester?

I have come to some conclusions about life with a family and schooling. Degrees are not cheap nor easy. Tyler is constantly amazed at the cost, the sacrifice and the suffering. I think he expected me to go back to school for a couple of semesters and easily obtain my teaching certificate. Sounds so easy when you think of it that way. He is baffled when I say, 'honey, I can't do that right now, I have 3 chapters to read for my language arts class,' or, 'I really need to work on this social studies lesson plan right now, would you like to turn off that basketball game and go fold the laundry, or clean the kitchen?' By the way, his idea of folding laundry is pulling HIS items out of the basket and putting them away. Hmmm.....I don't know if he saw the rest of the pile!

I love him dearly. I love him 14 years worth of marriage. But our life right now is a struggle. The best things don't come easy, and some day we'll be so happy that we did this.

As Spencer stated, 'when is your schooling going to be over?' (he he, I have 3 more semesters, not for a long while, sweetie). And 'why do you want to be a teacher anyway?' But then I remind him of the bigger house we'll buy because of my teaching job and how he can have his own bedroom, funny how his attitude changes.

Sorry to ramble on.....but these are the facts of my daily life right now. And those of you in college right now without children......learn from me, finish your schooling before those babies come along.

You are one wise woman. I am so excited for you to send me a graduation announcement at the end of this worthwile journey. Hang in there. You will be so happy to have your degree and a wonderful job. You will be a great teacher. I will even help you move when you buy that bigger house. Your anniversary sounds fun even if you had homework.
